The hook has been busy....a review on the Interchangeable Hooks
Finished this one up last night and even got it blocked. This was a special order for my Etsy shop. The pattern is Elizebeth White..from CrochetNbeads I think..she has an etsy shop. Like her patterns although I think they are a bit wordy. Lovely doilies though.
These are from Vintage Redwork Doilies..Maggie Weldon. You can get them at Annie's Attic, I think. There are 6 patterns in all. The one with the rings is started be crocheting around 3/4 inch rings. I think I may make a runner using this idea..really easy and goes very fast.. Oh yeah I used the new hooks. The Boye interchangeable ends..see my previous post..anyway. It took awhile for me to get used to the thicker shaft, but once I did..I like these hooks. I like that if I drop it in my chair (don't laugh..we all have done it) my chair doesn't eat it up. I can find it!! The entire hooky part seems a little longer..I like that. The vintage hooks all have longer hooky parts. Now if you take your hook and compare it to the new ones you will see what I mean. The weight is nice with the interchangeable hook too. I thought it would feel clunky..it does at first feel like you might be using an F or J hook. Once you get used to it..I think you will like it. To be fair though it seems like everything I made I made with a size 7 hook. Now here is what I don't like about the hook. I had a very hard time finding the size on the hook, and then when I did it was printed so tiny I couldn't read it. So you don't want to mix up the ends..put them back when you are done. I think if they would have color coded them it would have made it easier for those of us who wear bifocals..even if I took my glasses off I still had a hard time reading the number size. Ok now for the storage thing..maybe it was just the set I ended up with..but those hooks at least two of them don't stay put. Remember I can't hardly make out the size..so if this happens with all of them, I might have a problem. I am not going to give up my "regular" hooks because I tend to have more than one thing going on at a time and I like to keep my hook with my project. Can't do that with the interchangeable ones. Final review..I liked working with the hooks..I think they would make a wonderful gift for the thread crocheter..yeah only little hooks in this set..I wouldn't mind receiving another set..hint hint..my daughters if you're reading this..You can never have too many hooks!! Well Thanks for stopping by and reading my thoughts on the Interchangeable Hooks by Boye..yeah go get a set!!
