Answering a few questions

Good Morning everyone.   I have been asked many questions through my blog and would love to answer them one by one making it personal.  However I can't as I am not left with a way to get back in touch with you.  So today I will try to answer as many as I can remember right now.  I was also asked to list 5 things that you all do not know about me..I might do that and then maybe not..we will see how this goes.

One question of the questions that is asked of me is where do I get all my patterns.  I am a hoarder when it comes to patterns.  If I like it I will find it somehow.  I am blessed with many blogger friends that will help me on my quest for a certain pattern or pattern book.  I prefer to have the entire book and not just the pattern if at all possible.  I will not buy a pattern that has been ripped out of a book, strictly on principle.  Seems such a waste to tear up a pattern book.  My favorite designer is Trish Kristoffersen, she designs wonderful doilies, although, Ann White of Bellacrochet, Kathryn White, and Mary Werst  I enjoy also.  I have found most of my pattern books on the internet.  Some have been found at garage sales, but not many.  Oh and hand me downs from older crocheters who can't for some reason or another can't crochet anymore.  I meet many of them at my yearly show.

Another question is how I block my doilies..My husband made me some boards from those foam insulations boards you can by at Lowes or Home Depot.  He cut them to the sizes I needed.   I simply wet my doilies, squeeze, never wring, out the excess water.  Then I pin them out using a yardstick to make sure everything is symmetrical.  I won a set of bowls of different sizes, and I use those to make sure the center is circular if I am having problems..I use those quilters pins with the yellow heads, I haven't had a problem with rusting, wig pins work well too, if you can find them.  I do not use the spray starch, but instead make my own.  That way I can starch something really stiff or really soft.

I use only DMC cebelia thread.  I just recently started selling the thread because I was having a hard time finding it in the stores around here.  I also am trying to keep the price low as low as I can.  I am doing that just to get this wonderful thread into as many hands that want it at a reasonable price.  Feel free to visit my store..just hit the doily up on the right to check it out.  I guess that answers another question..where do I get my thread....

I was also asked if I would do some tutorials to show how to do certain stitches..I would if I knew how to upload and make videos..so for now if you have questions on how to do a stitch or need help with a pattern, leave me question along with the instructions on the part you have trouble with and I will get back to you as long as you leave me an email address...the only problem I have with this is copyright violations..I am big on copyright violations for various reasons..so please do not send the entire pattern.

I like the written patterns better than the diagram patterns..I tend to lose my place on the symbol or diagram patterns.

Well I think that answers most of the questions I have been asked recently...I am sorry I wasn't able to get back to each and everyone of you personally, but this seems to work as I get asked alot of the same questions.. I guess I will disclose the things you don't know about me at another time and another post.  Thanks for stopping by my dear friends.  Have a great week and find the joy in all you do.

Hey, you can always reply to questions on your blog by using the reply button at the end of the comment. I usually use that for people who do not have an email on their blog.

Love the blocking idea. I am gonna have to get some of those.

Hugs and blessings always dear friend.

thank you so much for answering all these questions. I'm following your blog since long time, because me too love making doilies. As of now i do it for myself or to gift it. I would like to know, if it is possible to sell doilies made out of pattern books. I just want to confirm that i'm not violating any copyright rule, or do we need to take permission from the designer to sell it. Please do advice me. Thank you
