Good morning everyone. I finished the CAL that Stitchy had going. I made this doily with a #2 hook, which is a large hook for thread work. I used much less thread than the pattern called for..about 1000 yards less. And there were a few mistakes in the pattern, maybe just editing mistakes, maybe not. Oh and the doily is a few inches bigger than the pattern said. I tested my gauge at the beginning and it was right, so another mistake? I don't know. I made this with DMC Cebelia..what else..#842, I call it a coffee color...available in my shop..Had to throw a plug in there...See the doily off to your right? Click on it and it will take you to my Etsy shop. You know you want to...
I wasn't sure how I felt about this doily about halfway through. So many popcorns....but it came out ok..I found pattern problems at the tops of the hearts..which really irratates me..as I get paid for testing patterns and fixing them..so when I make something already published I don't want to have to work, but just enjoy..so if you are working this same pattern, row 27 is where the problem is..add another dc after the 2nd tr. I also do not like the way the rounds join..so I changed that about half way through..and I also didn't go in the ch to make the popcorn..I went in the ch sp...hope that helps whoever else is making this..will I make it again? I may but I will be making dc clusters instead of popcorns, and maybe do something different on the last couple of rows..it feels unfinished to me.
Your name thingy is done...I hope to get it to you by the weekend...
I am hoping that you all have a wonderful and blessed week. May you find joy in all that you do today and tomorrow. Oh I think your doily is awesome.
I am on rnd 29 of mine, hope to get back into the swing of things soon.
I hear ya on the mistakes. It was an easy one, so it was ok...glad it wasn't something like an entire round missing, now that would have really been a burr in your saddle!
Mine is huge, I am on my second ball of Aunt Lydia thread using a 1.75mm. It looks like it might be 30 inches when done, maybe even bigger if I block it out.
Thank you for the well wishes and the prayers. You are always such a sweet heart to me. Thank you for being such a sweet friend.
Blessings to you always dear friend.
Hey sweet thing... I click on the doily to the right... it didn't go, check it out.
Love you
mom
p.s. the doily you just finished is beautiful...
It goes there from my blog, but I tried clicking on it from facebook, and it won't go. I don't know what is up with that. You can go to the byhooks4u page on facebook and it will take you to my store as facebook has it's own linky thingy.
If you right click and open a new window from facebook it will take you to my shop
I'm on row 32 found the mistake on row 27 instead of another Dckr I added another tr. I used a size B hook which is a 2 in steel.

That doily is beautiful and I love the color. I don't like paying for a pattern and finding mistakes either. Many of us are not as skilled in crochet and we end up with a pattern we can't finish. Been there, done that. The last one my SIL helped me with. It was an Annie's Attic pattern book and yes there was a mistake, I called them. That was a pattern book that became an expensive picture book for me. You have a wonderful week and Memorial Day weekend. We have three graduations in the family so it will be a very happy weekend spent with lots of family celebrating.
Your doily looks very beautiful!!:) I have it on my todo list since last 5 months. Thanks for sharing the corrections!! I am working on a big vintage doily and the patterns had few mistakes which I came to know later when my doily was turning into a lampshade. Knowing the corrections upfront helps a lot and I can always come back to you in case any doubt :)
Hi Vikki, This doily is really pretty :-) it has a lot of detail and a lot going on. May have been a pain to do but you make it look easy. Have a nice week!
An other beauty...

Beautiful! Who do you test patterns for? That sounds like the type of job I would love!
Vikki. Im stumped on row 34. help please. I don't believe it says 11 dc in three st or does it mean 1dc in first 3 sts, that doesn't look right either I was thinking 3 hdc in first 3 sts. what did you do?
Sherri, I just sent you a message on google+...hope you get it..if not my email is vikkihook@yahoo.com
