Last week's creations...

Hello my friends..glad you stopped by..the pic above is a doily I made  last week..I was in an ECRU state of mind..anyway the pattern is called Classical Style by Trish Kristoffersen..I don't know if you can see it or not..try clicking the pic..but there are little gathers in between the outside pineapples. The Pic in the pattern book..Pineapple Elegance also shows  them.  I am not sure how I feel about them.  Usually her patterns are fairly easy to block..this one not so much..OH YEAH..I got an email from PK apparently she is going to publish another pattern book..Yippee..love her designs..
This pineapple pattern comes from Tea Time Doilies..I am starting use this pattern book alot..maybe because it is sitting by my chair and what is at arms length..but I like most of the designs in this book.  I have been looking for DMC Cebelia thread in a brown..not the light browns but a discontinued dark brown..I want it in a size 10..finally found some on EBAY...don't go driving the bid up on me now..anyway I am happy..I have mixed feelings about telling some of you about my find (you know who you are :)  some of us hoard thread like the end of thread making is coming..who knows with the price of cotton..it could happen...Have you seen that Joann's online is asking $6.48 a ball for Cebelia?  And if you go into a store..I was there with my hubby over the weekend..sounded like a good idea at the time..anyway..I go to the yarn/thread dept.  The choices you have in thread is just awful..I wanted an orange..halloween..anyway..no orange..and the only thread they carry is Aunt Lydia's..I don't like it.  For me..once you get the thread wet (to block it you do) it becomes frayed thick looking..and then I was looking for an inline hook..Susan Bates...none to be found...and even the boye steel hooks have been made smaller..the shanks are shorter.  So I go to pattern books...no doily or thread pattern books except the ones that teach you how...Then I  think maybe I can find a magazine....No crochet world, crochet today..nada..zip..so what did I leave the store with you ask.  I left with my coupons in my purse, my money in my wallet, and my husband by my side with a Smile on his face...anyway thanks for stopping by and listening to my rants..Blessings my blog friends

If you are talking about the store in Evansville I have to say I have walked a mile in your shoes when it relates to going there and leaving empty handed.

I was looking for an orange thread, too...never did find one to buy. But I had an old one in my stash. I want to find a pumpkin doily to make for the fall. So if you see something like that, let me know.

Your doily looks awesome btw! How's the CAL afghan coming along?

Wishing you a most wonderful day my dear friend (psst and hugs to Buddy, too),

Those doilies are both gorgeous! The second one is my favorite. I always love the pineapple doilies. Your fingers must fly at crocheting. I am always amazed at what you finish in such a short time. I agree on the selection of threads in the stores, pitiful. Hope you have a wonderful evening! Give that Buddy a big hug!

I wonder if I have #10 brown in my stash? If I do I doubt it's dmc. I have a very large stash of #10. Well, you know that. I know I have black. Now you have me wondering. Who is PK?

Love your doilies. I have never used DMC Cebelia thread before. I agree about the magazine selection. There are plenty of knitting ones but not enough crochet ones.

P.S. I hate this damn word verification!!
